We just had Superstorm Sandy heading up to Osberton for the CIC 1* 6 year old championships.   She was her usual consistent self, notching ANOTHER double clear, adding just 3.6 time faults xc to her dressage of 50.1.   She will now have a very well deserved holiday in the field before coming back in to prepare for an exciting season in 2017!

Havanna Van't Castaneahof stepped up to her first CCI 3* over the weekend at Blenheim horse trials. She did her personal best dressage for a score of 50.9 then stormed around the testing xc track adding just time faults. Showjumping all of the horses were having fences down so even with some dropped rails she moved up 3 places after the final phase for overall 29th place! She is such a p...

I enjoy the venue of Solihull, the xc has recently been re-done and it is educational and bold! I had Katherine Corichs amazing pony St Merryn Guinness who was doing just his second BE event in the BE90, he did a great 33 dressage and double clear!   In the novice I had three horses, Superstorm Sandy (owned with Stewart and Judith Sharman) did a lovely test and got a disapointing s...

I had three lovely girls out at West Wilts this week. Pic below (Dream Big) In the 5 year old BE 100 class I had Dream Big owned by Magda Gut and my own Grandia. Dream Big did a lovely test to score 29, she was unfortunately rather tense in the showjumping and knocked an un-characteristic two fences down, I then ran her steadily cross-country but she felt great. Grandia also did a supe...

I was delighted with how all three of my young horses performed this week at Upton House.   I had 6 year old Superstorm Sandy (co-owned with Stewart Sharman) competing in the novice. She did a super dressage test feeling much more engaged and uphill which is what we have been working towards and she scored 28.8 which was just two points behind the leader. She jumped a lovely double cl...

Barbury is one of my favourite events on the calendar so I was very excited to be riding Havanna Van't Castaneahof in our second CIC 3* here this weekend.   Havanna feels like she is so close to putting in some very good performances at this level but the atmosphere at Barbury doesnt always bring out the best in the horses and with her still being so in-experienced at this level I adopted t...

We were very grateful to get to run the young horses at Brightling Park this weekend after the recent bout of heavy balloting and abandonements due to adverse weather.   It was a great learning weekend for them all whilst not be a winning weekend on the scoreboard, they did especially well given the heavy ground conditions!   I had the two 5 year old mares Dream Big (owned by M...

We made the 8 hour pilgrimage to Scotland last week for Hopetoun International. I had Superstorm Sandy in the CIC 1* and Havanna Van't Castaneahof in the CIC 3*, both girls having their first starts at their respective levels.   Superstorm Sandy is very in-experienced having only started eventing this year and just the one novice event under her belt. She did her best possible dressa...

Superstorm Sandy contested her first novice at Berkshire College. She performed a consistent dressage test to score 32.5 and jumped a super double clear, not seeming to notice any transition in the height or difficulty at the new level!

We had a lovely week in the Norfolk sunshine for Houghton Hall CCI 2* with Havanna Van't Castaneahof and Grandia who was competing in the Burghley Young Event horse qualifier.   Havanna did a nice dressage test which scored 45.5, she then stormed around the xc just one second over the time (badly misjudged by me!) and followed this up with a clear showjump round. She still feels like ...

I took my two six year olds (co-owned by Stewart Sharman) Superstorm Sandy and Springhill All Black to Tweseldown for another BE100 run.   It was the second run this week for these horses and they have also been out to jumping lessons twice this week, so they were rather tired by today!   Superstorm Sandy was the star, she did a fantastic dressage test feeling very forward and ...

I had four babies running at Mt Ballan, a nice little event to visit just on the other side of the bridge into Wales.   The five year olds Grandia and Dream Big (who is also an ex race-horse) were competing in the BE90 class, I had meant to enter them in the BE100 so not sure how they ended up here!   It was actually nice for them to have another event without any pressure as t...

I had a great preperation week prior to Aston le Walls intermediate with Havanna Van't Castaneahof and she rewarded us with a 2nd placing! Our jumping with Erik Du Vander and dressage training with Nick Burton set us up nicely for a 27.7 dressage (leader of her section) and double clear, I went steady cross country as I am setting her up for CCI 2* Houghton next start but despite 8 xc time faults...

After a ten day mini-break to New Zealand to attend a friends wedding I took Havanna Van't Castaneahof to run at Withington in the intermediate. Havanna had been ticked over by head girl Jackie Hoon and had a few schooling sessions with Erik Du Vander whilst I was away but all in all she was under-prepared and over excited! Havanna was very tense in the dressage and showjumping phases, she...
